Our Family Home |
Pinterest and a few favourite blogs have been a huge inspiration and wealth of knowledge in creating our family home. I first stumbled across the blogging world through The House that A-M Built. Here I found great home design ideas and beautiful interiors. It was especially helpful to read about another local house project in Brisbane. A-M's blogroll led me to a wonderful selection of blogs. The Georgica Pond blog is serious eye candy! I really hit the jackpot when I read Fun and VJ's post about Queenslander house renovation blogs and was introduced to Bungalow Bliss, West End Cottage and Crazy House Capers.
I must admit that I've been a 'lurker' in the blogosphere for quite some time, happily observing but not participating. With a bit of help from Katrina from the Block's excellent tutorials, I've taken the plunge and created this little blog and I'm finally ready to contribute to this generous online community. I hope you can join me on my journey of renovating and decorating plus all the joys that family life can bring. I look forward to your comments and help along the way. Oh, and join me on Instagram and Pinterest for more fun!
What blogs inspire you?
Are you a lurker like I was? Go on, leave a comment. I dare you! ;-)
Oh thanks for stopping by and letting me know about your new blog. And thanks for the shout out too. Can't wait to read about your renovations!! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you! I appreciate your comment- my first one!
DeleteHi, thanks for stopping by. It's really great to see so many local reno blogs, specifically those concerning Queenslanders. Now that you're on board you will meet so many inspiring people and get heaps of renovating tips along the way. I entered the blogosphere about 18 months ago when I started my blog to journal my own renovation project (which has only now commenced!) I look forward to reading all about yours. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Caroline. I wish I had started blogging earlier. It would have been helpful to have input and advice in the early planning stages. It's great to see the work begin on your house!
DeleteWelcome aboard the blogging world! It's a fun and crazy ride. Thanks for the shout out. I can't wait to follow you and your gorgeous family on your renovating journey. It will be amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting, Mel. I really appreciate your comment!
DeleteHi, and lovely to have you popping over to Betsy to say hello. I was just thinking the other day that I wish there were a few more blogs with real actual renos going on and there you are! Very much looking forward to seeing what you have planned for your gorgeous house, and I too know the thrills of seeing a skip in the driveway. We bought our house about 3 years ago too, seems we are on a similar thinking/planning/building timeline. Bet you didn't have a laundry in a cupboard in your lounge room though! mel x
ReplyDeleteHahaha! No laundry in our lounge room but our laundry will end up in a cupboard. These old houses always have some interesting additions. We had a gorgeous smurf blue toilet!
DeleteI love following your posts. It's great to see that next step ahead of where we are.
Hi, found your blog via Georgica Pond. I love reno blogs, and it looks like it will be a very interesting journey. love a solid Queenslander - Good luck blogging it all!
ReplyDeleteMy blog is a little bit neglected at the moment and I need to do a few catch up posts on our reno too. Looks like most of the people on your blogroll are the same as on my blogroll. :)
Thanks for visiting! We obviously have similar interests. I'll be sure to visit your blog. The name sounds great!
DeleteOh wow, thanks so much for the mention! So lovely of you. Good luck with it all. Yell out if you need anything! X
ReplyDeleteThanks Katrina. You're so kind to share your expertise!
DeleteHi, nice to see a new Australian blogger join our little community x
ReplyDeleteThanks Amanda. It's great to be introduced to some new blogs! I'll add 'Homely One' to my reading list. :)
DeleteHI, I popped across from Katrina from The Block blog. I don't blog, but do looooove to read them. I just added you to my favourites. I can't wait to come along for the ride. I live in Brissie too, so it's great to have a local with local style to drop in on. Good Luck with it all.
ReplyDeleteOh great! Thanks Angela. I appreciate your comment. It's nice to know local people are reading.
DeleteHi E
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled to be following you at the beginning of this journey. I've renovated three houses - one colonial, one federation and one mid-century - all before I discovered the blogasphere. Maybe, I'll be inspired to do it one more time! I don't have a blog, but I follow a lot of them - have a look at Hudson's House and The Old Post Office.
I'd love to see lots of before photos before you get started.
Good Luck
J
Oh wow Jane. I'm glad you're following my journey. I look forward to learning from your experience and advice! I follow Hudson's House. In fact, I should have mentioned the blog in this post! Thanks for telling me about The Old Post Office. I'll check it out. And I'll get onto a post with some before shots for you! :)
DeleteHi there
ReplyDeleteI was once a 'lurker' but took the plunge and started my blog when my elderly grandparents could no longer make it up the stairs to our house. Initially it was a way for my grandfather to keep up to date with our progress as he was once a 'chippie' and finds old age incredibly frustrating. I'm just proud of him getting his head around the internet!
I look forward to reading your posts especially as you are here in Brisbane.
I'm pleased to find your blog. And what a lovely story about its origin. I'm very impressed by your Grandfather!
DeleteLooking forward to following how this renovation turns out - good luck !!
ReplyDeleteHi Mum E, I just came across your blog on my search for tips on painting VJ walls :) We are just about to relocate a Queenslander from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast. Fun times ahead :) Your home looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Penelope! Definitely fun times ahead for you. Are you on instagram or blogging about your experience? I'd love to follow along!
