I think I have the renovation blues this week. Combine a severe case of decision fatigue (Ref.-
Bungalow Girl), returning to work, no daycare placement for Miss O, a heat wave with all of my summer clothes packed away in the shipping container, 3 out of 4 of us being sick plus a couple of disappointments on site and I'm left feeling very weary! But seeing our front door handle installed was a reminder that it won't be much longer before we return to our home and our life returns to normal.
Much of this week involved the builders completing the sheeting, adding the mouldings and installing the wardrobes.

The ensuite was lined ready for waterproofing, the installation of the vanity and tiling. I am really looking forward to seeing the hexagon marble mosiac tiles laid. This week I decided on some wall sconces that will look great above the vanity.
The retreat area windows have also been trimmed nicely to frame some more wall sconces.
The final cabinets were added to the kitchen so it is now ready for the benchtops to be installed.
For now I will dream about the house being complete and enjoying this lovely family living area.
Hang in there, you have just hit the reno hump, from memory my hump was about the same stage as you. It is all looking fantastic and in a few short weeks there will be no decisions left to agonise over and then soon after you will be home in a completely painted house. Celebrate your painters, I am hoping when we have paid all our bills there may be a little left over to pay a painter to do the ceilings as it feels like an overwhelming task. Hope your are all on the mend and there is nothing more stressful than work without good childcare, good luck on that front too. Can I warn you, the move home is EPIC, I am completely shattered and just nod mutely when everyone asks if I am excited to be home! mel x
ReplyDeleteOh thank you for your kind words Mel. I appreciate your encouragement. I will get over this hump! Thanks for the warning about what a massive task moving back in will be. I'm trying to make plans for Miss O's 1st birthday which is on the weekend that we will probably be moving. I think I might delay the party! Fingers crossed you have something left in the kitty for painters. I am so thankful for our painters! I've been taking them baked treats!
DeleteWow! It's looking so good. Don't worry, it will be all over before you know it. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you. You're right- only a few more weeks.
DeleteI've encountered a few disappointments on-site too, but have found that there is generally a fix for everything so I try not to stress about these things anymore. Give the blues the flick - the house looks fabulous and you'll be back home before you know it. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Caroline. Not long now and all the hard yards will be worth it. :-)
DeleteLove the built-in robes; proper built-ins that are made to look like they are part of the original house. It's looking awesome, can't wait to see the end result :-)
ReplyDeleteCheers, Col
